INDICATOR
Its real use is putting a clock back onto a tick chart.

Time Interval Blocks

A tick chart throws time away — that is the point of it, and it is also the cost. Time Interval Blocks shades the chart into repeating fixed-minute windows measured from the session open, so you can see how many bars packed into one five-minute block and how few made it into the next.

Specification
Chart types
Any, but built for tick and volume charts — that is where the missing clock is.
Session window
You type it (default 09:30–16:00). It is independent of the chart's Trading Hours template, so set it to match your session.
Calculation
On bar close.
Built for tempo

Bars per block is the read.

Twelve bars inside one interval and two inside the next is a tempo change you would never see on a tick chart otherwise. The same clock window keeps the same colour every day, so the pattern of where activity concentrates becomes visible across sessions rather than only within one. Optional per-interval bar and volume counts put the number on the chart when you want it stated rather than sensed.

An NQ 09-26 750-tick chart shaded into alternating light and dark vertical blocks, each covering the same number of minutes. The morning blocks on the left are wide, spanning many bars; the early-afternoon blocks on the right are a fraction of the width. A green volume figure is printed above each block, reading 30.1K and 28.2K in the morning, falling to 6.1K in the afternoon, then 27.9K near the close.
NQ 09-26 · 750 tickEvery block here is the same number of minutes wide. The morning blocks are five times the width of the early-afternoon ones because five times as many bars fit inside them — that ratio is the tempo change a tick chart normally hides. The green figures are the optional volume counts: 30.1K and 28.2K in the opening blocks, down to 6.1K a block through the midday balance around the point of control, then 27.9K on the late break lower.
